Bereavement Support

We offer a range of services for bereaved adults, children and young people, and those who care for them including:

Free visiting scheme
A chance to talk in confidence with a trained volunteer in your home or a mutually convenient venue. The service is free and confidential and most sessions last about an hour. If you would like to arrange a visit simply call our office 020 8427 5720. There is an answer phone for out of office hours.

Support programme for children and young people affected by the loss of a family member, friend or teacher.
Our Children’s Bereavement Visiting Group has specially trained volunteers who can visit you in school or at home to help you move through these difficult times.

Friendly support groups
Informal groups provide a friendly place to meet with other bereaved people, One of our visitors is also available if you would like a private chat.  For a list of support groups click support groups

Training in listening skills for those visiting bereaved adults and in the understanding of bereavement issues
Tailored training courses for teachers, healthcare professionals and those working with bereaved children and young people

Who uses our service?

Bereavement Care works with people who:

  • have been bereaved regardless of when the loss occurred
  • have experienced bereavement due to a sudden, unexpected or untimely death
  • have witnessed a traumatic or violent death
  • encounter death in their work
  • have survived a disaster
  • work with bereaved children and young people and their families
