What is Gift Aid?
If you’re a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid increases the value of any donations you make to Bereavement Care. It allows us to reclaim the basic rate of tax on your gift at no extra cost to you. At the present time (July 2015) that’s 25p for every £1 you give.
What are the Conditions?
For us to be able to claim Gift Aid, you need to complete a simple Gift Aid declaration. This can either be for a specific donation, or it can be a single declaration that applies to any gifts or donations you make to us. In certain circumstances, some payments made to charities which are not strictly gifts, like membership subscriptions paid to a charity, may be treated as donations for Gift Aid purposes.
What the donor needs to do
The donor must:
- have paid at least as much in Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in that tax year as you want to claim in Gift Aid.
- make a Gift Aid declaration that gives Bereavement Care permission to claim it.
